After a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, and Pillsbury Biscuits, Barb
took me on a grand tour of the Phoenix area Downtown Phoenix. I saw the State Capital with its coppertop roof, the “BOB” Stadium, I drove down Jefferson and saw a lot of homeless people. Then on to South Mountain, where I drove to the summit for spectacular views of Phoenix and all the mountains circling the area Navajo Indians from Sonora, Mexico were at the summit, selling pottery and jewellery. From there I went to eat at Carlos O’Brien’s Mexican Restaurant, Mmmm good! I drove through Paradise Valley and Scottsdale and drove down Stetson Drive, Scottsdale’s version of Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. Then we were off to Mesa, to see the awesome display of Christmas lights at the Mesa Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mesa has unusual streetlights that bend Mesa’s city center has a terrific display of Christmas light. On the main street there are several statues, each depicting a different scene of family life
Coming back from Mesa in the dark the highway ended abruptly, which led
to a little jaunt in an attempt to find a road Barb recognized to take me back to Sun City West. Barb jokingly refers to that little expedition off the beaten track as our “Search for UFOs Tour”! After picking up Lemon and Raspberry Ices at Fazooli’s Italian Eatery, I passed out from exhaustion after our action-packed day!
Downtown Phoenix. What a great retirement city! And hardly any downtown traffic on a Sunday. It was nearly like a ghost town!
This is the Capitol Building with an orange tree.
Barb toured me up South Mountain for an incredible view of the city.
What an awesome view from South Mountain!
I went for a little walk in search of more possible pictures and came across this scene.
