Day 29 – Saturday, January 12, 2002
This was the last day of my odyssey, and I had
hundreds of miles to go before I’d sleep!
The winds were incredibly high that day, which tossed
and turned the poor little Nissan to and fro on the
highway. But, like the little engine that could, it
kept plugging along on its long, arduous journey!
I drove through a pretty treacherous forested
mountain area for quite a long time on my way to
Great Falls, MT. The twilight quickly turned to pitch
black, and the snow had been falling, so it was very
slippery in some areas.
When I came upon Great Falls, I had to be detoured
from my original route because of a serious accident
involving a truck.
After hitting a blizzard that started just as I was
crossing the border, I finally made it home to
Lethbridge at midnight. I had traveled a grand total
of 17 hours that day, and were so grateful to be able
to get out of the car at last! But I’d do it all
again in a flash, being the fearless Roadtripper that
I am!
After spending the night in Riverton, Wyoming, I headed out early since this last day would be a longggg one!
This color looked quite awesome as the sun was coming up.
Picture Louis Armstrong singing..."The road is loooongggg".
Entering Wind River Indian Reserve. Nice scenic hwy.
Nice view. Well, I hurried to get a few pictures and slipped by that guard rail. The asphalt slanted down about a foot and down on my butt I went also bruising my elbow. Ouchy! I had a doozey of a bruise for a week and my butt was tender for nearly two weeks!
This is one of those scenic shots that I was after.
This is another view looking the other way.
And into Montana I went, the last state to motor through on my way home.
Approaching Crazy Mountains.
Crazy Mountains ahead.
