THE TEXAS TRIP - DAY 27

THE TEXAS TRIP - DAY 27 - Thursday, January 10, 2002

PUEBLO, COLORADO TO DENVER, COLORADO

From Pueblo I drove up to Colorado Springs and visited the Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, and drove part way up Pikes Peak. I had hoped to drive up to the summit, but because of a heavy snowfall the night before; the road was only open for the first 9 miles of the 16-mile ascent. On Pikes Peak I came upon Santa’s Workshop – the perfect place for it! I wanted to tour the Manitou Cliff Dwellings but they were closed for renovations, so I headed up to Denver. I spent the night with Ken and Francha in Littleton.

These rockpiles were at a wayside rest.

Approaching Garden of the Gods.

Garden of the Gods.

Interesting rock formations.

Another viewpoint.

Balanced rock.

Now I know why it stays balanced!

A picture is worth a thousand words!

North Pole? North Pole? I knew that I should have made a left at Albuquerque!!!
