TREK TO CROWSNEST PASS - RIPPING UP THE CARPETS

TREK TO CROWSNEST PASS - RIPPING UP THE CARPETS

Here we are again back at the ranch! This weekend's task was to rip out the carpets and get some odd jobs done such as caulking the joints. This was just a fast day trip so we had to move quickly to get the work done. We had to be back in the city since we had an appointment with our new accountant.

I took this picture from the east side of the lot.

I took this picture from the garage looking east.

I took this picture looking west past my neighbour's house with his truck parked outside.

I was anxious to climb the hill to see what kind of views it had from the top of the property.

I just had to climb the hill in the backyard to see what kind of view it had. I took these photos which forms a sweeping view. There is a LOT of potential to develop this hillside from what my pioneer journey revealed. This photo looks to the west side. You can see those pipes sticking out of the ground which i thought was the top of the property but my neighbour says the property goes right to the top of the hill.

Looking over the top of our house which has the green roof. See that railway crossing? That means that trains will blow their horns and at any hours of the day or night! I got use to it fast.

Looking across the tracks to a community that they call "Bushtown". The Crowsnest River is on that side of the tracks and some of that area can get flooded. The railway bed acts like a dike so we are on the right side of the tracks.

We are overlooking my neighbour's house to the east. As we arrived, we met them as they were walking home. Both of my neighbours are retired. My turn next! Well, one day!

The last of the view photos looking down the railway tracks. I guess now you can see why I am anxious to develop a switchback pathway up the side of the hill.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, I put Linda to work using the crowbar to rip up the underlay.

We already had the carpet removed but some of that underlay was not willing to be lifted off without a fight.

Ah ha!!! Look who I caught sleeping on the job.

Well, the neighbours to the west had invited us to come over for a visit before we headed back to Calgary. They treated us to many snacks and we had a late start home after that. It sure is nice to have great neighbours on both sides. We sure enjoyed the day trip out and look forward to next time when we will be able to stay overnight.
