TRIP TO CROWSNEST PASS - THE NEW CROWSNEST PASS HOME

TRIP TO CROWSNEST PASS - THE NEW CROWSNEST PASS HOME

Well, it took since 1998 when I first started looking to find a place down in the scenic Crowsnest Pass area. It finally came for the right time to buy. Possession date was April 8, 2005, just 7 days later after buying the hair salon. The property is 100 feet wide and 200 feet deep going to the top of the hill. There is ample parking as you can see.

Finally, I have a place with a double garage. That is a first for me!

There is the sold sign. We got it!

A view from across the street. You can see the retaining wall behind the garage.

I moved over to get a different angle.

We found this nice surprise waiting for us from our realtor.

Coming in through the side door and looking down the stairs to the right. There isn't much room here at the moment. I plan to put a proper stairway in when I fully redo the place.

As you walk through the small entrance way, you enter the kitchen.

Looking at the kitchen cupboards before they get painted. Also, there is an entrance to a bedroom beside the cupboards.

Now in the small bedroom, all wood panelling. Since we are not wood panelling people, it may just get painted over for now.

Looking at the other wall now with the two windows.

And this is the view you get out the window.

From the kitchen you enter the livingroom and you can see the other back bedroom here. I might have to change that closet door to a real door.

Now taking a step into that bedroom.

Here is a peek out the window looking east at the retaining wall behind the house. There is a stairway besides the house that leads you up the hill. I plan on building a nature trail up the hill with a bench to sit on to enjoy the view.

Looking out of the bedroom to the kitchen, bathroom and into the family room.

And here is the bathroom with a heat lamp and a sliding door on the tub.

Now beside the bathroom, we have a family room.

The room goes around the bathroom walls at the front window. When I redo the house, I will move the bathroom to regain the whole space in this room.

Now looking out the front window. The house sits across from railway tracks to the south and beyond that, the area is called "Bush Town".

As we turn around from the window, we face into the livingroom and you can see the door to the larger bedroom.

We now turn the corner, the bathroom door was left open and we look back into the kitchen.

We now head down to the basement. More wood panelling.

As we round the corner, you can see what was once a drive under garage now with a washer and a dryer. The opening was replaced with a double door with two sidelites.

More wood panelling. We plan to make this into a downstairs bachelor suite one day. Well, for now I guess we will do a nice makeover as we plan to rent out the house on a weekly basis.

The adventure will continue probably when I retire to gut the place and really go to town with upgrading it. Next year, we want to do a long trip down the west coast. We will have done a lot for 2005. Well, meanwhile here is the continuing story as we fix up the house weekend by weekend...
