DAY 9 - Friday, August 30, 2002

LAS VEGAS, NV TO PAHRUMP, NV.

I woke up at 8 am had a shower and picked up some supplies and repacked my car.

I came across this accident of an overturned truck on a Las Vegas freeway.

I stopped by these fountains which went up as high as around 5 stories all to the music that was being played. I set my camera on a pillar using the self timer. Bellagio Casino.

Hoover Dam. You go through a police stop on the way to this area now.

Hoover Dam.

Hoover Dam.

Hoover Dam.

Hoover Dam.

I stopped at this rest area with the nice view in the distance.

Welcome to Kingman, Arizona. Route 66 comes through this place.

Vistor Center. Note the fast food restaraunt from the days of Rte 66 across the street and the desert vegetation to my left.

Hey cuz Marv. What do you think of this chopper?

And on down the highway I go once more.

And back into Nevada. I did a loop from Las Vegas down to Kingman, AZ and over to Bullhead City then back to Las Vegas for the evening.

Fremont Street in the old downtown area now revitalized.

A canopy covers Fremont Street for several blocks.

Safe Sax was playing. Good band. Great sax player!

Golden Nugget.

4 Queens and more.

A cowboy on the left side and a cowgirl on the right.

Time to come back and get some shots of the volcano erupting at the Mirage.

Away it goes.

And gets more violent and very noisy.

Until it burns itself out... til the next eruption! Well, after that, I headed over to the Treasure Island casino to see their show.... a buccaneer battle. Awesome. Very crowded with LOTS of people standing around for this show. Very well done... not enough room to get my camera out to take a picture so you will just have to go and see the show yourself. I headed off to find a place to spend the night as the heat of the day had me pooped out... zzzzz
