Day 2
Odometer read 12,722 kms. I woke up at 7:21 am and I changed my plans a bit and decided to go south to Missoula, Montana and then across as my next National Park destination was Yellowstone National Park. Highway 93 South follows a lake for a while. I have seen lots of those little white crosses along the highway of people who never made their destination. Sad.
Oh my goodness, I do not think this is a safe place to park my car!!! (In Lolo, Montana)
I crossed over this bridge into Polson, Montana and found a city park with a picnic table to stop for my lunch.
As I approached Hamilton, Montana I came across this interesting artwork.
Travelling down scenic Hwy 93 South.
And of course, no trip is complete without having highway construction to go through! :) On Hwy 93 South still.
I turned off of Hwy 93 onto Hwy 43 East and came across a fire camp and this helicopter with a water bucket to fight fires. I saw a double bladded chopper with a large bucket earlier but was not fast enough to get the picture as it appeared just over a hill. Oh well.
Love those scenic highways! In this trip, it seemed that every highway that I travelled was scenic!
Time out to play with my camera's self timer. (And drink my milk!)
Wish that you were here! Hello from out there!
I just love to stop at all the scenic views to try and get the picture on film. Sometimes, you really have to be there to experience it. 1/3
Lots of scenic views sometimes no matter which way you look. 2/3
This was one of those stops that yielded several pictures depending on where you looked in the viewfinder. 3/3
Twin Bridges, Montana was a nice place to stop off for a rest break just before crossing this bridge.
I had to turn around to get this picture as I was driving along. Cool. The stuff you see in people's yards as you travel the countryside. This was located on Hwy 287 South and east of Nevada City.
Lots of tailings around this area. I stopped to do a little bit of gold panning. Then it was over to Earthquake Lake, but it was too dark for pictures. I slept in W. Yellowstone, Montana which ended up being my destination of the day. As a day wears on, you can usually figure out just where you will end up for the night.
