Gary's Visit to Calgary - July, 1999

I had saved this mountain trip for the last. We had snow in the city July 13th. It was cold! Brrr... We stopped by my work for a Calgary Stampede breakfast and then headed off to the mtns. The mountains were not visible!!! Arrrrghhhh!!! The fog level was down to the ground almost and all I could think of, was what a trip this is going to be! A disaster! CRAP!!!

Part of the mountain tour led us to the Alberta and British Columbia border. They were able to step foot into B.C.

Well Gary, welcome to Alberta alright. Weather was the pits, but wait. What did happen? As the day started to wear on, the fog lifted like a giant curtain revealing the mountains! WOW! That was quite the sight! There is more...

Here is an early photo of our journey with the foggy background.

Travelling along hwy 1, the TransCanada Hwy.

I know this spot along the TransCanada Highway #1 where you can usually spot a bear. Sure enough, a number of parked vehicles along the side of the hwy indicate usually a bear is about.

The park ranger came along and everyone was to return to their vehicles and move along. It really is not safe to get out of your vehicle with a bear present.

We stopped off at Takkakkaw Falls on our journey that day.
