I guess you could say that this is part 2 of the trip and adventure that year. I had to race back across the
country from the east coast to meet my cousin and his girlfriend from Ohio. I was able to get a few extra
days off while they were in thanks to my dispatchers at work.
So who is this cousin Gary? He use to fly George Wallace, governor of Alabama around as his personal pilot. I
did this special photo up for him.
Gary arrives at the airport and i didn't bring my camera. A band was playing as he walks in carrying 4
suitcases, one in each hand and one under each arm. The Cowgals there branded Gary and his girlfriend Sharon.
What a greeting! This is a photo of me, my daughter Karyn and cousin Gary.
Gary and his girlfriend pose with a Stampede mascot. I had a girlfriend before i left on my long trip
who bought 4 tickets for the Calgary Stampede. Today was the day we were to use them. Oh my goodness, that
girlfriend was a bear! She was wearing cowboy boots all day and her feet were bothering her. That was the
unfriendliest date of my life i am sure! I added this youtube video to show you the grounds. Gary's girlfriend
had such a great voice and when she did the kareoki, someone came up and paid her to sing another tune! She
did Patsy Cline's "Crazy" to a tee.
We watched the Stampede Show. My date was obiviously making a point that she wasn't with me and moved
over an extra seat to sit away from me. I knew that this was the first and last date too! Thank goodness! It
was a great show and i still had a great time that day anyways and just ignored her!
On another day, we headed out to Elbow Falls. This day was cool and wet. The parking lot was almost
deserted at the falls this day. Guess what? My wonderful 1988 Oldsmobile that never let me down let me down.
I went to start it and it was DEAD!!! Arrghhh!!! We managed to get a ride to Bragg Creek with a couple and
then i called my awesome mechanic. Russ 403 258 3714 in Calgary, Ab. He still is working as of Oct 19, 2009.
He was going to pick up a new starter and bring it out and install it for me. I just had to pay for his extra
travel time. Once he arrived, he went to work and in short order, we were back on the road again rolling right
along! Thank you Russ!!! You saved the day!!!
