LETTERS FROM THE ROAD

LETTERS FROM THE ROAD

As I travelled, I was able to get on the internet from libraries, friends and relative's computers so I updated the website with letters from the road. Here are the ones that appeared on the front page during my trip...

Hello From Branson MO..... April 16, 2003
I went through the Black Hills as a bonus extension to my trip plans.... Saw a Cottonmouth snake in the water north of Fayetteville, Arkansas and did an extra trip addition to Springfield MO earlier today... Having fun and seeing lots... Saw Carhenge near Alliance, Nebraska the other day along the way... More later...

Hello from S. Carolina... close to the Smokey mtns of Tennessee... April 22, 2003
Travelling along like crazy...about 6 days ahead of schedule... Did Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and drove across Tennessee and circled down south and coming back to the Smokey mtns then on down to Alabama tomorrow.... Seeing lots and having fun living on the road...writing the story as it happens...

Hello from Kissimmee, FL...May 1, 2003... Now running over a week ahead of schedule and have seen extra things along the way to boot! Over 10,000 kms already. I circled FL to Key West and up the east coast and will spend the extra time here in Kissimmee, FL.as there are a LOT of attractions to see. I have checked out working for Disney driving an air conditioned shuttle bus, same wages if you take the exchange rate into consideration plus not having to deal with fairs and NO SNOW!!! House prices work out to about the same prices... Hmmmmm.... I really love this area and it sures feels like home to me. I did 3 Disney Parks already... Magic Kingdom saving it for the last. It was rainy today so I looked for a library to get caught up with the emails. Those 3 D movies here are awesome... "Tough to be a Bug" and "Honey, I shrunk the audience" are totally hilarious! A must to see! Incredible added effects!!! I laughed my head off with everyone else! Also "Tarzan Rocks" at Animal Kingdom was a spectacular show! I did the Medieval Times dinner... awesome show... Also Ripley's museum! Taking today off as it is a rainy day so I looked for a library to do emails and catch up plus relax. I will be trying to add New York to my list and Philadelphia, PA where a cousin lives and maybe a few days in Winnipeg to complete the trip.

May 8...Kissimmee, FL... Taking a down day here. Not use to the constant +90 F weather. Sure glad to have missed those over 80 tornados touching down in America's heartland last Sunday... I had stayed in Jackson, TN which got hit. I will check out Gladstone, KS on my return trip to see the damage there. I did Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure plus the Kennedy Space Center yesterday. That 3D Spiderman ride has you climbing walls etc. The Terminator presentation is another awesome 3D adventure! This area is a place to visit for an awesome get away destination! Sad to have learned of Cypress Gardens shutting it's gates to visitors only a few weeks ago. That attraction had been around for 67 yrs. Just winding down this week and then heading up to New York and the slow return trip back home. Glad to have missed all the snow happening in Calgary during my time away!

May 12th... Hello from Georgetown, SC... 35 miles to Myrtle Beach! ...as I am now making my way back up north... The weather is getting a little bit cooler already... I sure was not wild about those +90's F everyday with no rain. I did a good number of attractions, on film roll # 37 so I will have many good pictures to post after I get back home. Sure is nice taking this 7 week trip away from work. Heading up to Philadelphia, and over to New York, then heading south and east through Kentucky and up to Winnipeg for a few days there. My 7 week adventure sure is slipping away now... time flies when you are having fun!

May 15th... Hello from Hwy 12 in New Jersey near the PA border... Saw Washington DC yesterday, walked around there for 6 hrs... wow! Lots of history! A must see. I visited the Statue of Liberty this morning... Awe inspiring! Well, on the road again making my way back to Calgary and still touring!

May 21, 2003... Boonville, MO. Heading to Kansas City, with no tornado systems present thank goodness. Visited my cousin in Pittsburg and my other two cousins in Bridgeport, OH and then went off to Virginia's Skyline Dr. Then went through St. Louis and saw the giant arch! Have seen a lot of nice country to date. I really like West Virginia and Virginia!
