39,598 kms was the reading on the odometer. Sleeping in a bit and waking up at 8:00 am local time having had a good sleep as well to boot! I took Hwy 90E. I came across some red birds maybe woodpeckers? I noticed some Hurricane Evacuation route signs now too. Jennings, Louisiana seemed like a nice smaller town. I drove along for around a 10 mile stretch and saw brown rats running everywhere along the side of the road. In Rayne, I came upon a graveyard where the bodies were buried above ground in cement tombs since the water level was too high to put them in the ground. I came across a good number of turtles along the way. Hwy 90 was also called future I-49. I saw a Bear X-ing sign for 5 miles, a corridor where bears frequent. I was surprised that they would have bears there. I went over some elevated highway over swamps/bayous. I took Hwy 311S for a little tour and back to Hwy 90E. I crossed over the Mississippi River. There were lots of Colonial styled homes in Harrison County Beach, Mississippi. In Gauthier, Mississippi, I saw Easter bunny displays in the boulevard for several blocks. I came across a Caddy with fancy wheels that the hubs kept on spinning as the car came to a stop. Fancy! Then to I-10 to the Alabama border and then returned to a truck stop in Biloxi, Mississippi for the night.
I came across brown rats... Lots of them. Most would scurry off the road if I tried to stop to get a photo of them. I was able to get this one.
So, have a closer look!
