TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 5A

TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 5A - Friday, April 16, 2003

MULDROW, OKLAHOMA TO BRANSON, MISSOURI

37,670 kms. 6:00 am wake up. Well, I guess it was really 7:00 am where I was. Now I have to remember the time change. Well anyways, I woke up in a rest stop at Muldrow, Oklahoma just before Hwy 6N to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Seems like Ft. Smith would be a nice place to revisit one day. Then north on I-540 and crossed over on Hwy 282 to Hwy 71N, a two lane scenic highway through the Boston Mountains. Saw a the Mt. Gayler tower. Stopped at a rest stop and saw a water snake swimming in the river. It could have been a Cottonmouth. I did not want to get close enough to find out either... haha Also, there would be no one around to suck out the poison since I was alone... (Also note, that is not what you want to do since the venom would easily enter your body and then you have to very sick people instead of one.) Saw Eureka Springs, Arkansas, a very scenic historic district getting revitalized. Well done I might add!

Arkansas. I had been waiting to visit this state for some time!

Awesome viewing the blooming trees along the way here in the Boston Mountains.

The tower at Mt. Gayler, Arkansas.

I stopped at this desserted rest stop and took a walk to the river as it looked scenic.

Oh my goodness. I spotted a snake swimming in the river. You can see it's head here and the ripples that it was making. I suspect it was a Water Mocassin snake.

I stopped for a picture along this road just off the highway.

Eureka Springs is one cool place to visit as you will see in the following pictures on this webpage.
