TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 4

TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 4 - Tuesday, April 15, 2003

WAKEENY, KANSAS to MULDROW, OKLAHOMA

36,583 kms. Waking up at 6:40am to get back on the road again. Going down I-70 and boy, was it windy! (Must be Kansas alright!) No signs of tornados or Dorothy for that matter. No Toto but lots of crosswinds a blowing. 30 miles before Salina, Kansas, I was driving along rolling hills. Salina, Kansas had many flowers and trees blooming. I-35S had some construction happening. Wichita has elevated freeway. Mulvane, Kansas seemed to be a very nice area. I was able to find McChickens and Big n Tastys for $1 which is quite a deal even with the exchange rate difference. Hwy 77S has rolling hills. I was starting to see some $1.35 gal gas prices. Pawhuska, Kansas had a lot of brick buildings and lots of trees and rolling hills. Saw Tulsa and headed to Oklahoma City. Heard two ham radio operators on my 2 meter radio talking about a tornado warning near Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Crossed over the Canadian River in Oklahoma twice. I saw some lightning bugs around Okemah, Oklahoma. I called it a night at a rest stop near Muldrow, Oklahoma.

Entering Oklahoma. Hope that I am lucky and not have to experience any of those tornados!
