align="center>HOT SPRINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA TO WAKEENY, KANSAS

Hwy 87N called Needles Highway to Sylvan Lake to Hwy 89S Custer, South Dakota to Hwy 16A to hwy 87S to hwy 385S to the Nebraska state line. Alliance, Nebraska has brick streets downtown. Hwy 87N Carhenge was located 3 1/2 miles north and then I returned to Alliance, Nebraska via Hwy 87S and took Hwy 385S The scenery changed to desert and desert to barren grasslands. I passed by a guy sleeping in his car with his feet out the passenger window. In Bridgeport,Nebraska, there were remains of a drive inn theater. I saw Easter bales of hay painted up just outside of Bridgeport, Nebraska. Cute! Great creativity out there as you travel. I love finding those homemade pieces of artwork. I missed the turn off and took Hwy 92E to Hwy 26S. Remember to wave to the opposite lane. Lots of friendly locals! I saw a fox running and two cows on the other side of the fence running with him. I took Hwy 26S and 35 miles before Ogallala, Nebraska, the rolling hills changed to flatter cornfields. I was given a free shower coupon at a local truck stop in Ogallala which I sure needed... Also noticed that it was a full moon. I was parked in an over flow area with the trucks to catch some sleep and noticed a state trooper right behind me. Well, with my gov't plates I figured that he would see that I was no problem but I got wound up and decided to move on down the highway. There was not much scenery to take in and with the full moon, I could see that I wasn't missing much. I headed down Hwy 83S which is called "The Vetrans of Foriegn Wars Highway". I turned on Hwy 23S and saw a cat in a two piece suit walking in the ditch close to Hoxie, Kansas. (skunk) Also got to see a raccoon on the prowl. I slept in a rest stop near Wakeeny, Kansas

Driving along Needles Hwy 87.

Cathedral Spires

The tunnel by "Needles Eye".

Can you see the needle's eye?

Maybe this will bring it into focus better.

Sylvan Lake. The game plan here was to take a hike around the lake and then have lunch.

Hiking to the end meant going down behind the dam and around.

Looking back towards the parking lot.

You come back up to the lake via these stairs and yes, that is snow lying there. Leftovers from a snowstorm 8 days ago to my arrival.

The view of the dam. The water level was too high to go to the edge as the path was submerged at that point.

This is one scenic area. I enjoyed the revisit since I had not been here for many years.

You can find the Flintstones in Custer, South Dakota.

Little houses on the prairie. Prarie dog town.

The people of the little houses on the prairie.

Welcome to Nebraska.

Carhenge in Alliance, Nebraska

More Carhenge.

A dinosaur and a fish.

Carhenge. Interesting place to visit.

Carhenge.

I was the only one there walking around. There was a guy in a pickup truck that I assumed to be a security guard to this artwork.

The Easter bunnies along the hwy. So neat to see the creative work that some folk have on display as you travel the highways.

I had decided to drive into the night making this sign a flash picture.
