Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota.
Two buffalo at 12 o'clock!
Deer along the road through the Black Hills.
Chief Crazy Horse, the carving out of rock progresses very slowly.
Yes, the Black Hills has Mt. Rushmore and the heads of the presidents.
Ever wondered about this?
A closer view.
I just happened to catch some wildlife while taking a picture of Mt. Rushmore. That adds a wee bit of interest to the scene.
Washington's nose is 65 feet long! (And you thought that you had a BiG nose!)
A pigtail bridge, a tunnel, X 3...in a row!
The pigtail bridge along alt 16.
Another view of a pigtail bridge. It was really desserted along this hwy. I heard that about a week ago, they had a blizzard and I suppose the tourists just aren't out yet. It was so awesome to be alone in this area with no traffic to watch out for.
Here you can see the pigtail better of how it gets its name.
After each of the 3 pigtail bridges are 3 tunnels which each tunnel gives you a view of Mt. Rushmore. I kind of goofed with my exposure so the president's heads are washed out but you get the idea anyways.
Four deer along the route.
The second tunnel. A double one at that.
And the third tunnel.
I passed by this scenic lake.
The lake was so nice, the picture I took twice!
Here is a close up. Watch the doo doo!
Look at the buffalo on the rock! Custer State Park.
Look at all the goats on the loose!
Another buffalo close up.
More deer along the road.
