TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 37 - Sunday, May 18, 2003

BRIDGEPORT, OH TO MT STORM

50,404 kms. This was just a short weekend visit when my cousin from Columbus goes home and my other cousin is off work. I was leaving in the evening to get as close to Virginia's Skyline Drive as I could. I took I-70E to I-79S to I-68E and onto hwy 119S to hwy 50E. Grafton has a drive inn movie. As the darkness fell, heavy fog rolled in and there were very poor highway markings in West Virginia. I was down to travelling at 15mph it was so bad that I could not see past the front end of my car hardly. I stopped beside a church lot in Mt. Storm. I had to get out of the car to see exactly where the approach to the parking lot was. The visibility was that bad. I just called it a night right there and was hoping that in the morning the fog would lift and I would have a day of much better driving conditions. I have never driven in fog that thick and staying in Mt. Storm seemed the fitting place to sleep the night away.
