TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 34 - Thursday, May 15, 2003

PRINCETON, NJ TO PITTSBURGH, PA

49,463 kms on Ulysses now. I woke up early to head off down the highway before it got busy with morning rush hour traffic. I took hwy 1N to hwy 1N + 9N. Noticed that all left turns you do to the right and then swing back across the main highway. Found lots of horn honking going on the BiG city. I headed for Liberty State Park, got trapped in Newark, NJ until I bought a map to show me the way to Liberty State Park and out of the dead area that I was in. My big road atlas did not have enough detail. Took hwy 1 + 9, the truck route coming back from Liberty State Park. to hwy 22W to hwy 206S to hwy 202S which had traffic circles to negotiate. Then took hwy 12W and hwy 32N in PA which was very scenic. Found that house with all the colorful flowers along hwy 611N. Then onto I-78 and hwy 33 to hwy 22W. They had stop signs instead of yield signs... noticed that constuction signs read, "Slow down, my mommy works here!". Altoona and Holliday were historic areas. Then on into Pittsburgh, PA to surprise my cousin who I have never met before! I was arriving sooner than planned and had given no advance warning as yet.
