TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 33C - Wednesday, May 14, 2003

WASHINGTON, D.C. TO PRINCETON, NJ

I took the George Washington Parkway to I-495 then hwy 1S past the University of Maryland. I did a U turn and headed back up hwy 1N to Baltimore, MD. Then I missed my turn and headed on hwy 140 to Northern Parkway to hwy 1N again. Then turned onto I-685 to hwy 40. Then onto hwy 13, hwy 202 and hwy 1N once more. That took me through Philedelphia, PA. where I saw signs that read... "Beware of Agressive Drivers!". I past an UGH area. The road had 3 lanes and a second two to the right and there were crossovers every once in awhile so you could get over to make a right turn. Very different setup than I have ever seen elsewhere in my travels. It was getting late and I took the 1A into Trenton, NJ to get a look at my map. I was now in an all black area nearly lost trying to get back onto hwy 1N again and to find a place to crash for the night as tomorrow I would be seeing the Statue of Liberty and the New York Skyline! I found a nice quiet spot in Princeton, NJ to sleep the night away. I was one tired puppy!

A chopper flies overhead every 10 mins it seems patrolling as the workers arrive in the government buildings.

Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

Another view of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

Thomas Jefferson!

A large double whirly bird flies above the Pentagon! More security!

A flower garden.

Looking up the river.

You cross this footbridge to get to the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial.

The Theodore Roosevelt Memorial. It wasn't fully up to where it should be at this time of year it seems.

I set the self timer and got into the picture. A wave to all from Washington, D.C.

I drove through this all black neighbourhood on hwy 1 in Washington, D.C.

I had crossed into Maryland after leaving Washington, D.C.

And then while in Baltimore, MD, I went through block after block in an area like this. It felt kind of strange like I was in a foriegn country.

I know now what it feels like to be on the other side. The odd one out as it were.

And another new state for me to be in. Delaware!
