TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 33A - Wednesday, May 14, 2003

WASHINGTON, D.C. TO PRINCETON, NJ

49,060 kms and 6am wakeup. I wanted to try and beat the traffic to downtown D.C. This is one busy place! I noticed higher gas prices in the D.C. area. I parked my car in West Potomac Park along the Potomac River. They gave you a 3hr parking limit. I was really close to the Lincoln Memorial where I parked. I walked for 3 hrs straight. There is LOTS of history here and museums. Lots of sirens blasting away as well. Under the memorials, you can visit souvenier shops.

A statue close to where I had parked. I came early so I got a good spot.

One of the two bridges near the Lincoln Memorial.

The other bridge.

The Lincoln Memorial. All the states are listed around the top of the building. Awesome!

Such a feeling to be here! I really love this area. I will have to return one day and spend a lot more time here!

Looking at the Washingon Monument.

The pool and the Washington Monument viewing it from the Lincoln Memorial.

I came across this group of statues in the park.

Military personnel would be jogging along the pathways. This ran alongside the pool.

This is some new construction going on while I was there visiting.

The Korean War Memorial.

The Washington Monument with flags.

Another statue that I found.

Another view of the Washington Monument. You can see the flags better here in this picture.
