TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 16

TREK TO FLORIDA - DAY 16 - Sunday, April 27, 2003

SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA TO KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA

46,044 kms to arrive in Kissimmee, Florida with 46,234 kms so this was a short trip. I took Hwy 1N to Melbourne, Florida then Hwy 192W right into Kissimmee, Florida. The highway was on the foggy side at first and then cleared up more inland. I looked for a low cost motel and found the Key Motel along Hwy 192, a main drag. The owner's son looking after the place had been to Banff, Alberta and had a souvenier on display behind the check in desk. I shopped for a bit to pick up supplies and then unpacked and was ready to go and start doing things. I was finally here again since 1977. Sooooo.. Let the festivities begin I say... I went to the Ripley's Believe it or not museum and the Medieval Times dinner show.

This is where I stayed next to the Xanadu future home that got left back in the past. It was for sale if you want to buy it. Rates were pretty good here. $20.00 a night US dollars. I like it that they had a table and chairs in each room.

The Xanadu home of the future. One of those attractions that didn't last. Sad to say, Cypress Gardens closed it's doors after I think 67 yrs of being quite the attraction. I missed it by two weeks.

Hey. Wazzup with this building?

It is the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum. I did not waste any time settling into the motel and getting out there to start seeing some attractions. Pass on a hi to Charles at the front desk. Had a good chat and left him my website address of my travels.

A picture of me looking into one of those mirrors that distorts you.

Ewwwww... A 6 toed pig! Lots of interesting things to see and do here.

The Wandering Hobo takes a break and was able to set the camera and self timer on for this picture.

Recognize this warrior? Sssshhhh... It's me at Medieval Times.

Here come the stars of tonight's performance.

This horse was jumping pretty good.

The knights. Each had one of six colors. The areas where you sat were colored to match that of the knights. Your color was the knight that you cheered for. Sound exciting? It is.

While you watched the performance, you ate dinner with your fingers, no silverware. Just as in olden days.

The princess.

Jousting time to the death! The net was lowered to protect the audience which also caused my camera to want to focus on the net and not beyond. Oh well. Those lancers split and splintered when they hit a shield. And that was my night out. Tomorrow, I go to MGM Studios and you can come along with me. Nice to be an armchair traveller?
