COAST TO COAST ROAD TRIP ACROSS CANADA - DAY 9

COAST TO COAST ROAD TRIP ACROSS CANADA - DAY 9

May 29, 2004 - VANCOUVER, B.C. LAYOVER

My friend Jeff who works for a tour bus company invited us to see the sights. He is an excellent tour guide and hopefully if you decide to tour Vancouver via a tour bus, you will get him for your driver! We got two extra tickets for Linda's brother, Jeff and his wife, Ruth. It was fun to be able to show them sights in their "own" city where they have never been. The two main ones being the Capilano Suspension bridge and Grouse Mountain. Both admissions were included in the tour ticket.

Tour bus Jeff gives instructions to his tending passengers.

Tour bus Jeff collects everyone's ticket as they board.

Here we are at Queen Elizabeth Park once again which was the first stop on the tour.

Here is the Dogwood flower which is the provincial flower for the province of B.C.

And we ended back at Stanley Park for another photo shoot of the totems.

Linda and Ruth pose for a picture.

The seawall at Stanley Park.

Lion's Gate bridge from Stanley Park.

Ruth and Jeff in the rear seat and Linda is sitting with a UK solo traveller in her 70's.

Capilano suspension bridge. 450 ft across and 250 ft deep.

Another view of the Capilano Suspension bridge.

Linda with a wood carved owl at the Capilano Suspension bridge grounds.

Tree Top Adventure, Capilano's newly opened attraction on the other side of the suspension bridge if you dare to cross over to it.

The walks go higher and higher as you travel the attraction.

After seeing the Tree Tops, we then headed back over the now crowded suspension bridge.

Time to board the gondola to the top of Grouse Mountain.

When you pass a tower the gondola swings giving passengers quite the sensation.

The passengers say a few oohs and ahhs and a quick prayer. The tram operator slows down for the passing of the towers but it still sways a lot.

The view going up the gondola.

Another view of Vancouver from the gondola as we head up on the very fast 4 min ride to the top of Grouse Mountain.

A view of the harbour from at Grouse mtn. now with ships waiting to dock with Stanley Park to the left. The clouds were dropping and the view would soon be disappearing.

A view of Stanley Park and downtown Vancouver.

A bear carving at the top.

More carvings at the top. Yes, that is snow on the ground.

There are two grizzly bears atop Grouse Mountain. Grinder and Coola. The photo is not shown as you will have to venture up Grouse mtn. to see them for yourself! Or wait til i put up a video clip of them.

Ruth gets her ears lowered. Linda brought her hair cutting items with her on the trip.

After the bus tour as we head for the car. Jeff is in the car already as Ruth tries to say her favorite saying on film!
