It was time to move on up the island to Parksville where I would look up an old neighbour from around the corner who moved there about a year ago. We arrive at Duncan, B.C. the city of totem poles.
We came across these unusual looking flowers along the highway at a lookout point.
At the same rest stop, there was this totem pole as well.
Linda looks out across the water as we take a few mins to rest.
Taking a minute to ponder while enjoying the view.
Now arriving in Duncan, B.C. the city of the totem poles.
We stopped at the Cowichan Indian Exhibit for a tour of totem poles.
A view of two totem poles as we enter the yards.
And here is the backside of the first totem pole. hehe
Linda poses next to a totem pole.
Another totem pole. Totem poles tell a story.
The winged part is that of a Thunderbird. You will see Thunderbirds on many a totem pole.
Folks on the tour would sit here while the guide tells you the story of what this totem pole is all about. The guides really enjoy telling the stories.
Linda takes a rest in this wooden carved tree rocker.
There is a big rocker for mom and one for a child.
You can walk through this totem at the base.
Wilson, our guide tells the story of each totem pole. We were a small group of just two for our guide's tour. It was raining that day.
Duncan is a city of totem poles. Go to the downtown area and you will find them plus they have footprints on the sidewalk to tour you through streets viewing each one on a totem walk.
Again, you can spot the Thunderbird here on this pole.
Linda poses with this totem pole.
The totem pole is in front of a large mural. Linda poses in the photo.
Here is a scene in the mural.
Another mural scene.
These totem poles are waiting for you to find in Duncan, B.C.
