COAST TO COAST ROAD TRIP ACROSS CANADA - DAY 30

COAST TO COAST ROAD TRIP ACROSS CANADA - DAY 30

June 19, 2004 - ANTIGOUSH, N.S. TO PORT HAWKESBURY, NOVA SCOTIA

Now in Nova Scotia, we begin the journey up Cabot Trail.

We camped here by a small river.

We had two ladies and a BIG dog next to us using a minivan for camping in. It seemed pretty cramped, not much better than my Corolla when it came to loading all of the gear. I had thought about moving up to minivan for more space at one time.

Welcome to Cape Breton.

We just crossed over Canso Causeway and came over this bridge looking back from the Welcome to Cape Breton sign.

This is something different. I drove past this at first as it caught my eye, a village of characters! I turned around to come back for a closer look. It was a village of scarecrows with this do it yourself photo opportunity that Linda took advantage of.

Look! It is Jim Carey.

The story of the scarecrow village is here and many figures have write ups with them for you to read.

A whole field of characters await you to explore.

This is one interesting place.

A couple of lumberjacks with many familar faces behind them. Charlie Chaplin, Al Gore for example.

And more famous faces. See Jean Cretien down the row?

From Jim Carey and over to the ice cream/snack mobile to take care of your sweet tooth and to quench your thirst as you explore the grounds.

Wedding party.

And even I get into the act now. lol

We find an artillary gun captured in the war.

My turn to pose.

Looking down the barrel.

A church across the hwy.

Cabot Trail now continues.

This reminds me of northern California after you go through Humbolt forest.

It is a very scenic drive as you can see.

It just stays scenic and windy as the road continues.

I got this photo from a rest stop. I think there are 24 pullouts along Cabot Trail if I remember correctly.

A scenic view from a rest stop.

Taking the picture from a different perspective.

The coastline.

A scenic reststop.

A look at the road ahead from a high point pullout.

A fisherman display at this restaraunt along the hwy.

A view from a rest stop.

A lady looking out to see as her husband and son play below out of the picture.

Linda poses along the boardwalk.

Rolling waves crashing against the shoreline.

We take this ferry across one inlet instead of driving around.

A scenic lookout where I think that is where we crossed over on the ferry below.

A view of the coast as we head back towards New Brunswick soon to be leaving Quebec.

Another view of the coastline.

This inlet had a bridge over it as we make our way towards Sydney, Nova Scotia.

We drove over to Louisburg, Nova Scotia as well and did not find a place for the night so we ended up driving all the way to Port Hawkesbury and did some car camping that night.
