COAST TO COAST ROAD TRIP ACROSS CANADA - DAY 29A

COAST TO COAST ROAD TRIP ACROSS CANADA - DAY 29A

June 18, 2004 - CABOT BEACH, PEI TO ANTIGOUSH, N.S.

Well, today is the day Linda has waited for as it is time to find all the Anne of Green Gables attractions.

Time to wake up and get a move on. There will be lots to see today as we now are in the Anne of Green Gables area.

We see rows of red soil everywhere on PEI.

We arrive at the Anne of Green Gables museum.

Our first stop is the Anne of Green Gables museum.

This is the aunt's house that Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables had spent some time growing up in.

Let's have a peek inside.

It amazes me that you are allowed to enter each room. I would have figured that they would have each room behind glass but such was not the case.

Linda examines the antiques.

Linda uncovers a wealth of material of history here.

From one room to another.

Linda reads the notes posted on the walls.

In each room, you find things that were spoken of in Lucy Maud Montgomery's books.

These are the original pieces of furniture and the writings refer to what publication they were spoken of.

Oh look, I found a gift shop. Come and watch me spend some $$$!

A view of her aunt's house from the front.

Now we come to a barn on the property.

The sign on the front of the barn.

A gazebo on the property overlooking The Shining Lake.

Shining Lake.

Now we visit her grandfather's house where she had spend some time as well.

The items in the house are original and reflect the writings in her books.

Our tour guide tells of many a story of each item.

In each room, you imagine the days of yesteryears gone by.

Many antiques await you as you travel back in time.

Linda is in her glory as she visits each room and sees how it all relates to Lucy Maud Montgomery's writings.

Visualize growing up and spending time here.

I am still amazed that they let visitors actually enter each room. I guess the type of crowds are not the type to do damage to the museum or heritage houses.

Linda poses next to a spinning wheel.

Our tour guide spends time in the kitchen with many references to the Anne of Green Gables books.

Now we head off to the birthplace of Lucy Maud Montgomery, one of the four different Green Gables attractions.
