"F.A.Q.S" - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does one become a "Wandering Hobo" like yourself?

A. Well, I took on the title of a "Wandering Hobo" mostly because I had the spirit of one. I just travelled N. America on extended vacation time from work although I had the desire to go full time out there. I guess that I had it too good and decided that perhaps being a snowbird one day would be my goal. I was motivated yet in another amusing way. It always seemed that at the time, it was my ex's way or the high way and with the not so good lifestyle and marriage, the highway looked really good. I decided to make it a goal to see as much as possible travelling to areas everywhere that I had not been.

Q. Any advice that you would give to others?

A. LOTS. Follow your dream! Much information is made available on my website to help anyone from a backpacker to someone who travels in an RV. Read about other's journeys and decide what will work best for you and your own situation.

Q. How does one save for such an adventure?

A. I budget well, live a fairly frugal lifestyle but still afford some of those extras. I made the journey a challenge trying to live as cheaply as I could on the road. And going south from Canada into the U.S. meant such a high exchange rate. That in itself was quite a challenge. I travelled with lots of tin goods, supplied my own drinks and stopped at a fast food place once a day to enjoy a hot something that was on sale.
