Day 7, Saturday, August 16, 2003 - Wasilla, Alaska to Tok, Alaska

65,112kms and 8:30 am I am up and running. I dropped off that note for Coleen and Bob thanking them again for the wonderful time that I had spent with them. Then off hwy 3N to Denali National Park and to Fairbanks, Alaska then onto hwy 2S. I had a moose run across the road in front of me and luckily he was far enough ahead of me as to not to have to make a panic stop. People really overdrive their vehicles and it is no wonder the animals become roadkill so easily and motorists get some nice looking wows in their front ends! I ended up back in Tok at the same place to spend another night. Lots of Rvs there this time!

It is the one thing about travelling out there that you never know what you will come across. Who would have thought to see the Batmobile along the Parks Highway. (hwy 3) Houston, Alaska.

Gorillas in Houston, Alaska.

Before you arrive at Denali Park you will come across this hotel igloo. It needs repairs.

Denali National Park.

I didn't set up the tripod this time. I just asked one of the two couples taking pictures here if they could take a picture of me.

You can drive in only to Savage River where this is at and then you have to turnaround. A private bus would take you further in.

Now facing the opposite way for a different view.

A scene along the road in Denali N.P.

Another scene.

Santa Claus welcomes you to the North Pole. North Pole, Alaska that is!

Even the local McD's has a candy cane stripe.

The streetlight poles are done up as candy canes too.

Another Santa.

Here is where all of your letters to Santa go.

I stopped for a picture of this moose. The baby moose was hidden in the trees and just would not come out long enough for me to get a picture. I wasn't about to exit the car with the mother right there.

Mile 1442 marks the end of the Alaska highway in Delta Junction, Alaska.

The road sign along the Alaska highway now heading back home after my quick adventure. Alaska really needs a good month at least to see it properly. I did this trip in 10 days with lots of driving!
