Day 1, Sunday, August 10, 2003 - Calgary, Alberta to Dawson Creek, B.C.

This trip was delayed a bit. I was trying to locate my National Park pass and needed time to pack properly. My week had been a very trying one with all that was going on in my life. I wanted to clear up a few things and begin with a fresh slate. 60,026 kms on the odometer as I begin the journey. I left at 12:50pm finally ready to go. I headed off down hwy 8W to hwy 22N. Just as I was arriving into Cochrane, I came upon a Hooters bus with a bunch of guys running out into the ditch to take a whiz. Too funny! I took hwy 43W in Grand Prairie. It was raining. Then I took hwy 2 and ended up in Dawson Creek and parked on a side street for the night. I was remembering what a security guard told me at the Rockyview Hospital when I was working last week. He said to me that they found a cure for the "Mad Cow" disease. I said, "What was that? He replied, "Chocolates and flowers!"

My first photo stop is Drayton Valley. Every town and city seems to do up a unique sign of their city.

Grand Prairie, Alberta. This is the artwork outside of their visitor center.
